JEPPESEN TO OPTIMIZE PUROLATOR DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS THROUGH NEW SOFTWARE CONTRACT

Purolator, Canada’s largest overnight courier company, has chosen Jeppesen to optimize its delivery and logistics operations through a five-year contract for PlanOp, Jeppesen’s decision support tool for the optimization of multi-commodity logistics networks. The deal comprises software licenses, customization and training activities, as well as support and maintenance.

Jeppesen will deliver numerous optimization tools within the PlanOp software suite, including the Network Flow Optimizer that will be used to plan Purolator’s regional and inter-regional service networks. Also provided by Jeppesen is the Hub Selection Optimizer that will give support for investment decisions for new hub facilities and the Vehicle Routing Optimizer and Vehicle/Crew Schedule Optimizer will be used to plan Purolator’s bulk pick-up and delivery services.

Richard Weiner, senior manager, Network Engineering at Purolator, said, "It has been a challenge to find a software solution that will allow us to increase the efficiency of our network in so many ways – placement of processing hubs, optimization of crew and vehicle use, and new network initiatives. We are looking forward to the improvements that Jeppesen’s PlanOp will give us."

"We are very pleased to have the chance to be part of Purolator’s success story and are looking forward to a long and productive relationship," said Howard Rosen, sales executive, Jeppesen.
